First of all, this city on the Costa del Sol is known for its beaches: kilometres of coarse sand and crystal-clear, gently waving waters, perfect for enjoying with friends, partners, or family. Along them you’ll find countless chiringuitos<\/em> and beach clubs offering a wide gastronomic selection to enjoy with the sea breeze.<\/p>

La Milla de Marbella<\/strong><\/p>

Luis Miguel Menor and C\u00e9sar Morales’s restaurant has been renovated in form, but not in essence. It remains one of the great temples of fresh produce on the M\u00e1laga coast, but it has now moved beyond the beach-shack aesthetic and taken a step further into the upscale space it truly is \u2014 a benchmark on the Costa del Sol for the finest seasonal raw materials from the sea right in front of it. There are undisputed classics, like the sardine espeto<\/em> (skewer). And the Andalusian gazpachos. In the traditional Andalusian pesca\u00edto frito<\/em> \u2014 another must-try dish \u2014 local anchovies reign supreme. Shellfish and other top-quality fish grilled al espeto<\/em> will make choosing difficult.<\/p>

La Plage Casanis<\/strong><\/p>

This is the quintessential chiringuito<\/em> and “beach club” of this leading restaurant group on the Costa del Sol. With nearly 20 years of experience, both this venue and its other two concepts \u2014 Casanis Bistrot, an icon of French cuisine located in Marbella’s historic centre, and Mamzel at Finca Besaya, their new restaurant, where high-end cuisine coexists with entertainment in a cosmopolitan setting \u2014 are undisputed “foodie” references for both locals and visitors.<\/p>

El Chiringuito de Puente Romano<\/strong><\/p>

Marbella’s jet set hasn’t completely gone \u2014 that much is clear from this list. Many of those who stayed are here, at another iconic hotel: Puente Romano, a destination in itself and a gastronomic hub like few others, with top-tier restaurants (Le\u00f1a is here, so is Nobu) and one of our favourite chiringuitos<\/em>. Enjoy one of their famous mojitos by the beach, on the outdoor terrace, or in their elegant indoor restaurant \u2014 very “hippy chic” \u2014 paired with a tasty and laid-back menu with sea views. Some must-try dishes? The espetos<\/em>, the original fish shawarma, and an addictive cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e.<\/p>

MC Beach<\/strong><\/p>

If we were talking about Hotel Marbella Club and El Grill, we can’t forget the other gastro side of this deluxe establishment \u2014 besides its idyllic El Patio \u2014 which is its beach club, MC Beach. Fish and shellfish from M\u00e1laga and beyond (they have an interesting Japanese section) that shine on the sand of the hotel’s beach area, next to the photogenic jetty and with views of an endless blue. Their rice dishes are second to none.<\/p>

Secondly, Marbella \u2014 this paradise on the Costa del Sol \u2014 is also known for a more reserved and exclusive gastronomic scene, where you can enjoy a unique experience for the palate.<\/p>

Ta-Kumi<\/strong><\/p>

At this point, it’s clear that meat and Japanese cuisine triumph in Marbella, even if it might seem strange at first \u2014 but, as we were saying, summer here isn’t just about going from one chiringuito<\/em> to the next. Toshio Tsutsui and \u00c1lvaro Arbeloa marked a before and after on the Costa del Sol with this signature brand, which champions Japanese tradition with the finest produce from our seas. Craftsmanship and mastery (which is what the name means) meet here in an extensive menu \u2014 either choose your own dishes or let yourself be surprised.<\/p>

Erre y Urrechu<\/strong><\/p>

A top-tier steakhouse and wine bar in both respects. It’s the proposal at Gran Meli\u00e1 Don Pepe \u2014 a modern steakhouse, somewhere between dark-and-gold Gatsby style and the trends and aesthetics of any great cool restaurant in any major capital. People come here to enjoy a dance of embers and fire that isn’t limited to meats: it also caters to vegans. Cuts like Simmental, Santa Rosal\u00eda wagyu, Friesian, and vegetables from their own garden fill the menu. The meats are grilled over holm oak wood, the vegetables over orange wood. And all of them are a hit, especially out on the bright terrace. Pay attention to the wine cellar.<\/p>

La Kava<\/strong><\/p>

There’s no menu here. Literally. Fernando Alcal\u00e1 offers ten daily dishes that change depending on availability and on how the inspiration strikes each morning. So we can’t tell you to order this or pick that. You’re in his hands \u2014 but don’t worry, they’re the best hands. His homeland and his travels around the world, which have been and continue to be many, inspire his recipe book and also his wine list. There’s a lot of Asia. Also a lot of local flavours, in explosive combinations with more global touches. An eel with fried egg, a white prawn with Taiwanese gazpacho, a sea bream with Madras curry. And a multi-award-winning cheesecake that’s worth running far and wide to find.<\/p>

Le\u00f1a<\/strong><\/p>

Meat triumphs in Marbella \u2014 perhaps the people of Marbella are tired of pesca\u00edto<\/em>. Dani Garc\u00eda opened the doors of his dream steakhouse with sophisticated interior design and a multitude of options for all tastes and budgets under the name Le\u00f1a (also in Madrid). The menu is huge. It starts with a vegetable section \u2014 always grilled \u2014 where the M\u00e1laga avocado with feta cheese and coriander pesto can’t be missed (great produce is a hallmark of the place). There are signature dishes from the chef, like the whole green apple that’s actually foie gras mi-cuit<\/em>. There’s his mother’s braised meat, or the impressive and substantial cured old-cow carpaccio with truffle emulsion and parmesan. Fun pinchos<\/em> and, of course, a wide range of all kinds of meat cuts fill out the menu. Don’t leave without the pink cake for dessert.<\/p>
